This committee’s notable programs include:
- Martha Vineyard Orientation Weekend
- 1L Orientation – This is an annual event organized to welcome incoming students and foster an atmosphere of support, cooperation, and kinship from which they would be able to draw throughout their years at this institution. The biggest part of this trip is a weekend excursion to Martha’s Vineyard , which includes many bonding games and activities. Alumni and several of the professors attend the trip—providing guidance and answering questions from students. The trip is usually held during the first two weeks of the academic school year.
- Black Faculty Reception – In an effort to connect the African-American faculty of Harvard Law School with current students, HBLSA sponsors a special reception in the fall semester. This event is well-attended by students and faculty, both of whom view this informal gathering as an ideal opportunity to discuss issues regarding the law and the law school experience.
